Londonderry Old Home Day “Priority 1”

We are now implementing a new standard to prioritize events for members who cannot attend all events but wish to attend the most important ones, 1 being the highest priority to 4 the lowest.

Thank you to the The 3rd New Hampshire Regiment 1776, you are Priority 1 for us too!

Fun on the Common!

What type of events are on the Common Saturday after the parade?

The Londonderry Town Common is full of fun events for families. The event is not your typical flea market, craft show, or collection of food vendors. You will find two types of booths, the not for profit organizations of Londonderry, New Hampshire typically sell a product, often times food. This is a big fundraising event for many local organizations in town. Local companies are required to have a game or event for kids, they are not allowed to solicit sales in a overt fashion.

You may even see a dog or two :)

Londonderry Times Snoopy..

John Robinson was snooping around the Old Home Day publishing pound, and scooped the story before we even were able to “post” the site. Nice job John published in this weeks Londonderry Times.

Can I join?

Can I join the Old Home Day Committee? When do you meet? Where?

The Old Home Day Committee meets on the third Thursday of every month at 7PM. They meet in the police station, enter the door turn left. Everyone is welcome! It is a lot of fun and if you are new to town it is a great chance to meet new people! Take a look at our present group, here. It takes a lot of volunteers to make this happen, over 10,000 people come out for the event. (And one Dog)

Old Home Day or Old Home Days?

But why is it not called Old Home Days?

The old timers (respectfully presented) get very upset when you use the term, Old Home Days. The fear is that if you use this term rather than the approved term Old Home Day, it will break a sacred link. We are one of just a handful of towns that have held Old Home Day for 106 years with out fail. If one year we were to call it Old Home Day’s the ghost of Gov. Rollins would certainly strip the honor of our never ending celebration! Even though in 1899 he actually declared the nation’s first statewide “Old Home Week” to be held annually the third week in August. (source State of New Hampshire, New Hampshire State Council on the Arts)

If you do make an error, when you type www.oldhomeday.com www.oldhomedays.com or www.oldhomeday.org no need to worry! They all take you to the same place, Londonderry, New Hampshire – Old Home Day.

By the way NEVER call it OLDE HOME DAYS! It will give away the fact that you are from out of state!

Parade Line up, where when how?

My Family is in the Parade, how will we know where to line up?
The morning of the parade there will be volunteers with clipboards at the entrance of the Londonderry Middle School. Approach one of them and ask for your unit number. Your group name will be on the list, remember we have many “troops” “teams” and clubs, you will need to know the one you are with!

You will be directed to a section and a number, like section 2 number 12. Look for a tent on the ground (like a pup tent only smaller) they are about 12 inches tall, stand, park or wait behind it for the parade to start.
